Evan is in his second year in the New School’s MFA program, pursuing a degree in creative nonfiction writing with a focus on literary criticism.

He used his GI Bill to return to school and pursue his dreams.
He is a member of a Brooklyn-based writing group and serves as an assistant organizer and blog contributor.

Each year, MFA candidates at The New School are chosen as T&W education or editorial associates, while graduate students at NYU receive the Writers in the Public Schools Fellowship.She holds a BA in English Language and Literature from The University of Chicago, and has shared her passion for creative writing throughout her work/life experiences as a substitute teacher, a full-time nanny, and an afterschool coach for Young Chicago Authors’ annual slam poetry competition-fest, Louder Than A Bomb.Currently, in addition to earning her MFA, Candice serves on the Children’s Book Committee at Bank Street College’s Center for Children’s Literature.Ethan was born and raised in Los Angeles and loves to write about the city he grew up in because it is “way more chill” than New York. Auriane Desombre is a YA writer currently pursuing an MA in English Literature from NYU and an MFA in Creative Writing for Children & Young Adults from The New School.T&W thanks The Cerimon Fund for its generous support of our partnership with The New School, and we welcome this year’s students to Teachers & Writers Collaborative.Cynthia Amoah, a T&W editorial associate, is a spoken word artist, performer, and writer originally from Ghana, West Africa.New School education associates and NYU fellows work alongside experienced T&W teaching artists to support creative writing programs at schools, senior centers, and other sites in the community.The editorial associates serve on the Editorial Board, generating and editing content for the publication.She is a graduate of Agnes Scott and Hunter Colleges and is currently a MFA Creative Writing-Poetry candidate at New York University.Kiri Milburn is completing her second year of the MFA program (fiction) at the New School and is at work on her first novel.
