As of December 2017, the motivational statement prompt was: “Peace Corps service presents major physical, emotional, and intellectual challenges.

In the space below, please provide a few paragraphs explaining your reasons for wanting to serve as a Peace Corps Volunteer and how you plan to overcome the various challenges associated with Peace Corps service (less than 500 words).” For me, this was the most daunting part of the application.

In fact, the challenges of Peace Corps service are part of why I’m confident I would be an excellent volunteer; I enjoy pushing myself beyond my comfort zone and becoming a stronger, more resilient person.

I look forward to meeting these challenges as I have met other challenges – with openness, curiosity, my sense of adventure, and a good dose of humor.
